Followers set the floor, engagement sets the price
Two accounts with 50,000 followers are not worth the same. One with 8% engagement reaches and moves far more people than one at 1.5%, and pricing that ignores the difference is how brands overpay and creators undercharge.
This calculator starts from a base rate per thousand followers for the format, then scales it by how engaged that audience actually is.
How the estimate works
Multiplier = engagement rate ÷ 3 (capped 0.5× to 2.2×)
Rate = Base × Multiplier ( +35% with exclusivity )
The 3% reference point is roughly the middle of the Indian benchmark range. An account at 6% earns double the base; one at 1.5% earns half.
Base rates by format
| Format | Base per 1,000 followers |
|---|---|
| Instagram Story frame | ₹120 |
| Instagram feed post | ₹250 |
| Instagram Reel | ₹400 |
| YouTube integration | ₹900 |
| YouTube dedicated video | ₹1,800 |
YouTube commands more because the content keeps working. A Reel peaks within days; a video ranks and earns views for years.
Worked example
50,000 followers, 4% engagement, one Reel
- Base rate
- ₹20,000
- Engagement multiplier
- 1.33×
- Suggested range
- ₹21,333 – ₹33,333
What this cannot know
Niche moves rates more than any other factor. A finance or B2B software audience is worth several times a general lifestyle audience at identical follower counts, because the advertiser's customer is worth more.
Other things that legitimately change the number:
- Audience geography. An Indian brand paying for a majority-overseas audience is buying very little.
- Usage rights. Permission to run the content as a paid ad is a separate commercial deal, often priced at 50–100% on top.
- Exclusivity. Not working with competitors for a period has real cost to the creator.
- Deliverable count. Bundles usually carry a discount per asset.
Treat the output as an opening position, not a market rate. Check the audience with the Instagram Engagement Calculator before agreeing anything.
Frequently asked questions
How much should an influencer with 50,000 followers charge?
At around 4% engagement, roughly ₹21,000 to ₹33,000 for a Reel. Niche, audience geography and usage rights move that substantially.
Should I charge more for usage rights?
Yes. Permission to run your content as a paid ad is a separate licence and is commonly priced at 50–100% on top of the content fee.
Why do YouTube rates run higher?
A video keeps accumulating views for months or years. Instagram content peaks within days.
Is engagement rate the only quality signal?
No. Audience location, age, comment quality and consistency across recent posts all matter, and inflated engagement is easy to buy.
